HORSEHAIR SCONCE

Designed by Steven Klein for Apparatus

A striking exploration of material, texture and form, the Horsehair Sconce by Steven Klein for Apparatus draws inspiration from the grace, strength and sensuality of the horse.

Wefts of genuine horsehair are paired with brass and etched glass, creating a sculptural composition where an unexpected natural material takes on an almost architectural, weight-bearing presence. The contrast between the organic texture of horsehair and the precision of metal and glass gives the piece its distinctive character.

The design references Steven Klein’s Horses and the refined craftsmanship of traditional riding tack, bringing together the sensual and the machine-made in a sophisticated statement of contemporary design.

Apparatus, the New York–based interdisciplinary design studio founded by Gabriel Hendifar and Jeremy Anderson in 2012, explores the relationship between lighting, furniture and objects within their environments. Inspired by the modernist concept of Gesamtkunstwerk — the total work of art — each collection is conceived as part of a cohesive visual and cultural world.

At MAKA Interiors, we curate distinctive pieces that bring together artistry, craftsmanship and timeless character — designed not simply to furnish a space, but to become part of its story.
